Socio-environmental responsibility is the company's principal value

Ciclus' activities enabled the closure of the Gramacho and Gericinó controlled landfills, in addition to the termination of the Seropédica and Itaguaí dumps, which underwent environmental recovery. The actions contributed to the improvement of sanitary and environmental conditions in all the Rio metropolitan region. With cutting-edge technology for the treatment of waste and the protection of the soil, CTR's activities are monitored to ensure the safety and health of its employees and the whole community.

Environmental education projects

The Environmental Education Center (CEA) has been a space for knowledge and exchange, created especially to host the community. At CEA, residents of CTR's surrounding communities help develop courses and workshops. Educational activities focusing on the environment are also offered to all ages.

Community actions

Over the past ten years, Ciclus has developed a series of actions with communities living close to the facilities or affected by its work, in a set of projects called the Social and Environmental Management Plan (PGSA).

One of the initiatives is the Waste Collectors Social Inclusion Plan (PISCA), whose main objectives are:

Compensate for the possible impacts that the new solid-waste management solution project can have on the waste collectors;
Promote the sustainable inclusion of the most vulnerable population in the solid waste chain through the active participation of waste collectors and other key stakeholders through a range of options:
- Organizing the community for productive purposes;
- Improving the living, working, and income conditions;
- Promoting the social development of waste collectors' families.

During the application of the Plan, we served 238 waste collectors. Among the activities developed were professional training, youth and adult education, and support for inclusive businesses.

The Environmental Education Plan (PEA) promoted opportunities for local development-oriented toward sustainability. The Plan's focus was to allow the community to access the knowledge necessary to build a new relationship with the environment through educational actions. The work involved workshops on recycled toys, classes on the reuse of food, art workshops, sustainability-themed film showings, etc.

Professional training was a third activity added to the PGSA in partnership with the SENAC and SIMTEC. Thirty-six people participated in training on administrative assistant positions, barber, hairdresser, building electrical technician, computer technician, manicure, electrical panel builder, and specialist in organizational routines
